Parrotlets are the small birds which are at their young stages of life. Their bodies are small with an average length of about six inches. The young ones weigh around slightly below thirty grams. They are domestic birds kept by a lot of people. People are making sure that they get the chance to own a parrot. These birds are very much friendly and can be trained for some purposes in the house.T Once there is a person in the compound the parrot will notify their owners. Parrotlets are very beautiful pet birds to have in your compound. They are available in a variety of colors which are very easy to distinguish. The difference in color is brought about by the difference in the species. Some of the species of the parrots are expensive and rare to find. The Pacific parrot is the most available species of the parrotlets. Some parrotlets are green, yellow and blue wing in color. It is very hard to find the species that are yellow in color in many parts of the world.
Parrotlets have a big appetite which fuels it’s antique and the playful nature. Since parrots are nutcrackers they love nuts which helps them exercise their beaks and make them strong. They crack the nuts and feed what’s on the inside. Natural supplements are also used as a way of feeding the parrotlets for proper growth. The parrotlets require a lot of energy for growth as compared to the already mature parrots. An food that has very high amount of sugar content should not be given to the parrots. Parrotlets should be fed with food that contains less amount of sugar content.
Reason as to why they are pet birds is because they need attention and care of man. Provided the parrotlets are properly fed they don’t require too much attention. Fully grown parrots require around ten minutes attention from the owner for training. Make sure you put enough play materials in the cages of the parrotlets for them to use them when they want to play. Parrotlets don’t need company from other birds as they don’t bond well. They can only feel comfortable in the company of their owners and other parrots. Parrot cages should be made far from disturbance of other pets.
The birds can easily get aggressive when they are provoked. They should be separated from the other pets to avoid fights that can occur. Kids and toddlers should not be allowed to disturb the parrots to avoid injuries. They are friendly especially if fend by hand.
